The Berkley Classics program is designed to handle a wide range of collector vehicles such as antiques, classics, street rods, ‘muscle’ cars, show cars, sports cars, modified vehicles, modern collectibles and exotics. The program can also cover antique motorcycles, farm tractors, trucks, vintage military vehicles and vintage snowmobiles which meet the criteria below.
Antique/ Classic Cars & Pickups – Original automobiles held as collector items, more than 20 years old and appreciating in value. Original pickups must be 25 years or older.
Antique Trucks – Trucks, 30 years or older, which are not used for hauling or farming. Heavy trucks must have collector license plates.
Sports Cars – Small-bodied, two-seat vehicles in original and unchanged condition (e.g., Corvettes, Porsches) which are more than 20 years old through model year 1968.
Street Rods – Vehicles, released in 1949 or before, which have been modified from their original manufacturer specifications.
Modern Collectors – Rare, original and limited production models or anniversary edition vehicles which are 20 years and newer, appreciating in value and have annual mileage of less than 2,500 miles.
Modified or Customized Show Cars – Vehicles, 20 years and older through model year 1950, which have been modified from their original manufacturer specifications.
Exotic Vehicles – Foreign made vehicles (e.g., Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti) in original and unchanged condition, 20 years or newer, and valued at a minimum of $75,000.
Muscle Cars – Small to mid-sized vehicles fitted with a V-8 engine generating 300 horsepower or more. Must be in original and unchanged condition and 20 years or older through model year 1968.
Replicars – Classic reproductions (e.g., Cobra) or kit cars.
Antique/Classic Motorcycles – Original, unmodified motorcycles which are 25 years or older.
Antique Tractors – Historic farm tractors, 40 years or older, which are not used for farming activities or tractor pulls.
Vintage Military Vehicles – Jeeps, ambulances, tanks, personnel carriers and half tracks which are 30 years or older.
Vintage Snowmobiles – Vintage snowmobiles, used primarily for show, which are 30 years or older.
In order to offer competitive rates, the program is primarily designed for collector vehicle owners with the following characteristics:
- 10 or more years of driving experience
- Owning vehicles registered in CO, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, MN, MO, MT, ND, NE, OH, OR, SD, TX, UT, WA, WI and WY.
- Use of collector vehicles is mainly for club and hobby activities as well as the occasional pleasure drive but not for general transportation (e.g., running errands, commuting to and from work, going shopping or golfing, etc.) which requires leaving the vehicle unattended.
